About

STAGES and Urbahn Architects have formed Prestige Hotels Ltd; co-developers and designers of The Four Points by Sheraton Hotel. The project is valued at US$25 million and will be operated by international hotel operator, Marriott.

The Four Points by Sheraton at the Piarco International Airport Estates is the first hospitality project in Trinidad and Tobago, developed in compliance with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) responsible investment principles.

To implement these ESG responsibilities, we will be utilizing the guidelines set by Marriott International’s Serve 360 Sustainability and Social Impact Program, International Green Key Hotel Certification Criteria and Town and Country Planning Development Guidelines.

Environmental

Our ESG Framework begins with our commitment to environmentally conscious design and construction. Utilizing the principles of passive house to design the exterior envelope, we will ensure a greater degree of efficiency of heating and cooling the hotel. A substantial array of photovoltaic solar panels on the building’s south facing L-Shaped roof, will provide energy for the hotel’s hot water and on-site vehicle charging ports and will help minimize the carbon footprint of the property. 

The design and construction of this hotel is crafted with state of the art technologies, including building information modelling, WUFI dynamic simulations and thermal modelling for energy efficiency and resilience, minimizing any adverse environmental impacts.

A FORSA concrete formwork system helps minimize construction waste and ensures a higher degree of extreme weather resiliency. The use of locally sourced building materials throughout, will help shrink the building’s carbon footprint, while expanding the cultural representation of Trinidad and Tobago within the aesthetic of our design. 

Social

The social impact infrastructure is consistent with our own commitment to diversity and inclusion, with the hiring process. We will strengthen and nurture our community by hiring local employees and provide attractive salaries in the context of responsible labour practices, both during construction and operations of the hotel. The Four Points is committed to creating policies that ensure a healthy and safe workplace. This includes providing three nutritious meals a day to staff and utilizing the principles of well building standards, to foster intentional spaces that enhance human health and well being. 

Governance

We will adhere to these goals through a system of empowered governance that will involve the hotel’s fiduciary ownership, partnerships with local government, including stakeholders, associates and staff of the hotel by forming the structure of the business, consistent with the highest ethical standards. 

The Four Points by Sheraton will set the course to bring modern, leisure and travel to the Piarco Region of Trinidad & Tobago. This 154 room hotel will also distinguish itself among the places we visit to do business or meet for special events, without the congestion of nearby Port of Spain. It offers convenience to business travellers and aircrews, being only 800 ft away from the airport terminal.
